Setting up the app might take some time, but once you're done, if like me you enabled every automatic behavior, the app will manage almost everything on its own. Every morning my feeds are updated before I wake up.
New episodes are automatically downloaded and added to the PlayList. So I just have to take my phone, open the Playlist, sort the episodes depending on my mood and press play. The episodes will be played, then once finished they will be deleted and the player will start playing the next one. You can also use the app 'Continuous Playback' feature in order to play multiple episodes of the same podcast without having to handle the playlist manually.

This means that after restoring the backup, the app will ask you if you want to redownload the episodes that were previously flagged as downloaded. Transferring existing downloaded files If you want to avoid redownloading those episodes you can manually save the content of the app storage folder on the previous device and copy it into the new device app storage folder.
