Earliest date thus far is ending at Does Virtual Sheet Music have this old of sheet music? Is it in a specific location due to age? Carolyn at CMH. Your project looks very interesting, and we'll be happy to help.
We have an extensive catalog of music, so, if you could tell me more about the repertoire you are looking for such as possible composers' names, pieces' titles, etc. Even just a little hint will help with the research. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you again! I am not in the least some weird religious fanatic, but I do have a love for uplifting songs that bring hope, peace, love, and laughter.
I also love many other genres and, in fact, host small group live music events in my home or outdoors, weather permitting, for surrounding friends and neighbors. I love so many various songs and music scores that we rarely -- if ever -- hear these days, that I decided to launch my own songbooks of music that is out of copyright, or public domain, or if I can obtain permission, I will do so.
I am a former English teacher and Public Speaking. I love words. I am writing lyrics to the melodies of the very old songs. So far, my completed works are quite old and it is a joy and challenge to write lyrics to "match" the syllables, to sound out, what 'fits'. I am having a blast, frankly. It has almost become a passion. I will have these songs compiled into a songbook, volume I, for starters.
I know those who know me will want a copy of my songbook. It is not my intent to break any laws or set myself up for law suits. I believe "due diligence" is key in using the music melodies exclusively. I do not use any lyrics other than my own. Every line is uplifting to God, encouraging, and faith building. Frankly, I find that most churches lack fun and inspiring songs and choruses for their congregations and small gatherings. The trend is to post wordy, often difficult to read or understand with strong overtones of a biblical nature, and expect the congregations to "sing along".
Say what you will but that is NOT true praise and worship. Entertaining, yes. I feel it is more of a "show" than it is a time to honor God. Thank for reading my dissertation. You asked me to tell you more.
I have more than hinted as you alluded to. I have vented my concerns and explained my purpose in becoming a member of Virtual Sheet Music. If you like, provide me an email address and I can send you a list of songs that I am working on or have completed.
